Bertus Basson is one of the most amazing chefs in the country and a very good friend of mine which is exactly why he’s one of our judges on the Ultimate Braai Master. Some of you may have eaten at his restaurant in Stellenbosch, Overture, and if you haven’t you definitely should, but a couple of weekend ago I visited his new restaurant, Bertus Bassion at Spice Route. So often when I take my kids out for lunch I’m restricted to franchises and horrible food. It’s refreshing to be able to eat food that I like and have cool stuff for the kids…And in the same breath it’s great to see South African chefs sticking to their heritage and cooking food we all know and love.
